For this assignment Film Grammar, individually the class watch Forest Gump while jotting down key time stamps pointing out recognized camera shots or different camera angles. Each shot captured elaborated on what we saw and what effect the scene holds.

Camera Angles Assignment

The task for this assignment was to watch a movie of your choice and note scenes that use camera shots/angles that add effect to the scene or story. The movie I used was The Platform by Carlos Juárez.  I chose to review the camera angles in this movie because of the emotion this movie sets with certain angles and scenes. I was a fan of this movie because of the story behind the hidden messages. In this scene, the main character is hallucinating the deceased people around him, trying to send him messages to eat their bodies so he can survive. In this scene, the main character is being held hostage with a camera view of high angle/shot which gives off a sense/felling of hopelessness. He was held hostage to be sacrificed and for the other man in the room to feast. In this scene, the man in the room with the main character is shown to be eating food rapidly as if he has a limited time which he does before the food moves to the next platform. This scene gives off a feeling of bless...

Case Study: Mise-en-scene- Activity #2

Image
This assignment, was very fun because we were able to explore what it means to create a video for an assignment. In this second case study which is very similar to the first one instead of analyzing shots from other movies, we were assigned with analyzing shots from our very own movie. 1 1. Western, this area was used because we were able to show the perspectives of the people acting out the scene 2. Gangster, this picture at the top of the stairwell is a more modern picture style used by anybody 3. Romantic comedy, peter at the top of the stairwell looking down at me brings a feeling of finally seeing someone you really wanted to see 4. Horror, Peter at the end of the hallway represents the horror of being at the end of the path 5. Sitcom, this scene gave a feeling of lightheartedness because of every showing a happy emotion and with a colorful background

Case studies play a big part in Media Studies. This was one of the first of many the class went over. For this assignment, the task was to read an entire case study on still shots. Then on our own, we find 3  important still shots found in media today and elaborate on them. Heres Mine! Get Out In this scene, Chris (the male) was manipulated into believing his mother's death was his fault. The scene is portrayed as a land of nothingness, where Chris struggles for help. The Batman In this scene, the Riddler's first victim was the mayor of the city of Gotham. After accusing Mitchell of lying to hide the city's corrupt nature, the Riddler bashed his head in, cut off his thumb, and wrapped his head in duct tape to lay the clues for his first riddle.  Spider-Man: No Way Home This scene shows all the Spider-Mans in multiple universes. These 3 have all been in their own movies. In the scene, they team up with Peter Parker (the middle) from the current verse to save the city from ...
